Others swapped dentist recommendations, asked to borrow jumper cables, and flagged groceries that got left at the wrong doors. The giving theme ran all month, from the Move For Hunger drive to the many "free to a good home" listings.
The September calendar included Booz @ 7 in the Club Room. Its listing recorded 34 RSVPs and invited neighbors for cocktails and music. Breakfast With Maid Brigade followed with 23 RSVPs, pairing a morning bite in the Phase II lobby with a raffle for a $50 service prize. The Hunger Action Month food drive with Move For Hunger invited residents to bring non-perishable donations to the Concierge through September 30. To close it out, we posted a five-question trivia challenge about hunger and food waste, and at least one resident answered every question correctly to win the drawing. We also kept our Pet of the Month tradition going, with entries due September 20.

One resident selling homemade soaps in scents like Lavender and Tea Tree and Caramel Latte Hazelnut got a quick thank-you: "Very moisturizing without all the chemicals!"
Book lovers had a field day when a neighbor listed titles including The Love Hypothesis, The Silent Patient, and The Helsinki Affair, and multiple people claimed copies within hours. Pets drove three of the five events. The Pup Cup Picnic on July 18 collected 13 RSVPs at the Dog Park, where dog ice cream by Chewy came in peanut butter, birthday cake, vanilla and carob. A follow-up post promised free puppuccinos for "your very good boys and girls." A Pet Adoption Event at our sister community, Meridian 2250 at Eisenhower Station, collected 2 RSVPs and introduced residents to Petey and Furends, Post Pets and VEG ER. Pet of the Month entries were due July 20, and the July winners posted to the feed were a fetch-playing Russian Blue cat nicknamed Cheese and a six year old dwarf lionhead rabbit.
The fifth event, the "Shark Week" Canned Tuna Drive, was a Move For Hunger partnership running through July 31 with donation bags at the Concierge Desk. Our team also ran beach trivia for a $25 gift card, and three residents replied with full answer sets.
The most common post in July was one neighbor asking another for something small. A resident needed a couple of teaspoons of Old Bay for a recipe and had an offer within five minutes. Another asked to borrow an Apple Watch charger "for thirty seconds", and a neighbor answered "I have one you can use." Someone moving out asked to borrow power tools and got a yes the same evening. Moving boxes came up three separate times.
Giving things away was the other steady theme. Marketplace carried free listings for a new chair still in its box, a decanter, a kitchen torch, a washable dog bed and a stack of New Yorker, Cook's Illustrated and Bon Appetit back issues. One resident left about 20 mini champagne cups in the phase 2 lobby for anyone who wanted them. Another offered contemporary romance novels to neighbors before dropping them at a Little Free Library.

Book Lovers! was July's busiest group with 8 posts. A resident who had just moved in asked whether anyone wanted a monthly book club. Neighbors said yes, one offered to help organize, one offered to bring snacks, and they settled on the second Tuesday at 6:00 pm starting August 11. A Board Game Buddies member asked who plays 5 Crowns, someone in The Cat Clique offered cat sitting to neighbors who travel, and Cycle Central appeared on July 9 with 4 members.
The Old Town North Buy Nothing group came up as the place to pass on usable furniture, and two neighbors described the bed frame, coffee table and spot cleaner they had rehomed through it. One resident borrowed materials for a children's activity at Beatley Library. A new resident recommended Verizon 5G home internet after a neighbor suggested it, and a gardener named their giveaway soil as Sta-green from Lowe's.
